On Friday 17th June, the girls in 5th class got to go on their first school tour since 2nd class! We went to Causey Farm in Co. Meath. We enjoyed lots of fun activities including bog jumping and petting lots of very cute farm animals. The bog was definitely our favourite part! We all had a great day!
The girls in St.Brigids had an amazing time celebrating Creative Arts Week. The theme for this years week was 'endangered animals.' Each class from Junior Infants to 6th was given their own endangered animal to research over the week. The girls then had the opportunity to say some facts, write a poem or even sing a song about their chosen animal over the intercom. Each class also created a piece of art that represented their endangered animal. Ms. Flynn orgainised an art exhibition in the hall on Friday 13th of May. It was amazing to see all of the girls amazing art on show!

On Friday 3rd of June, the two 4th classes went on a tour to Causey Farm in Meath. There was so much excitement on the bus, it was great for the girls to finally all go on a trip together. The girls had great fun on a tractor ride to the bog. They went on an obstacle course through the woods. They got to see lots of farm animals including lambs, horses, cows, chickens, alpacas and some piglets who were only born the morning of the tour. They learned about the bog as they made their way to the bog hole and spotted some bog cotton on their way. The highlight of the trip was when the girls took off their shoes and socks and jumped into the bog hole. They were covered from head to toe in muck and they absolutely loved it. And if they weren't already wet and muddy enough, they made sure they were by jumping and splashing around in every puddle they could find. The girls really enjoyed their day out!

On 31st of May, girls from 4th, 5th and 6th class participated in Cumann na mBunscoil Athletics in Morton Stadium, Santry. The girls ran u/12 and u/14 in 100m sprints, 600m race and in the 4x100m relays. The girls all ran extremely well and really enjoyed the experience competing against other schools on a track. Hopefully they will get another chance to take part in a competition like this again soon. Well done to the whole team!

On the 19th of May, we celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day. This is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning. We recognise that time spent outdoors learning makes the children feel happier and healthier as well as helping to equip the children with skills that they need for life. We have recently purchased some new equipment for our out-door play area which the children are really enjoying. Many classes also used our basketball court for some more fun activities outdoors.
