The girls in Ms Furey's have been taking part in a six week Scratch Jr programme learning all about coding in the computer room. They have really enjoyed developing their coding skills and creating their own projects. Scratch Jr has been a huge success in first class and the girls are excited now to move on to Scratch Senior in the coming weeks to develop their coding skills even further and to create more fun and exciting new projects!
Some of our classes have been taking part in Sports con's '10 at 10' (10 minutes of exercise at 10 o'clock) this is an initiative to keep us active in the classroom. The girls have really been enjoying it.. a fun and exciting way to keep us active in school!
Our 5th class have just finished their six-week cycling safety course. Over the course, they girls have revised the parts of a bike and how to ensure it is safe to ride, how to safely cycle on the road, how to manoeuvre and how to signal and complete turns safely at junctions.
This week, the girls embarked on a road journey to put all of their learning into practice!
The girls have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have learned a lot! A big 'thank you' to Mick and Shane at 'Irish Centre for Cycling'.
The girls in 4th and 5th class enjoyed a day out at the 'Fighting Words' workshop as part of our World Book Day celebrations. With the help of the team at Fighting Words, they explored what makes a great story. They even got to write and publish their own story! They all really enjoyed the day out!
