Mrs Delany’s Fourth Class had a wonderful day out to Top Oil at East Point Business Park on Thursday last. Firstly, we were picked up at the school and driven to Dublin Port where we got to see the largest oil storage tanker which is owned by Top Oil. It holds 26 million litres of oil and is 46 metres in diameter. That’s almost the length of Westwood swimming pool! Then we went to see the oil tankers being offloaded at the jetty.
Next Louise (our JA leader) took us to visit the Top Oil offices at East Point. We all got to ‘drive’ the oil truck. Then we went inside and met everyone in the office and saw where Louise works everyday. We even got to sit in the Board Room. It was great fun. We loved meeting all of the different people that we have learned about in the programme. In fact, we would have quite happily have fired them on the spot and stepped into their shoes!!
Finally, Louise had arranged a little party for us in the office canteen. We also had the presentation of our Junior Achievement certificates and goodie bags. It was a fantastic experience all round.
Míle buíochas to everyone who helped to make it such a great day out for us but most especially to Louise who made Junior Achievement a most memorable experience for us all in Room 9.
