There was great excitement in school this week with two very friendly community Gardaí visiting all the classes in St. Brigid's. The Gardaí talked to the girls about their job and what they do on a daily basis. The girls got the opportunity to ask lots of question and were really engaged during their visit. The highlight of the visit was getting to try on their special hat, hi vis jacket and using their walkie talkies and handcuffs.

On 13th February over 40 girls met in St. Anne's Park to take part in the Junior Park Run.  The girls all ran 2 kilometres in the rain and managed to keep big smiles on their faces as they did so.  This was the first time some of the girls had taken part in a Park Run while others managed to achieve some personal bests!  Well done to all the girls and their families for taking part.  Click on the image below for some more photos:

The girls made fabulous arts and crafts to send home to those they love for Valentine's Day

As part of Creative Schools, 4th Class did a felt workshop with textile artist Niki Collier today. The girls learnt about how felt is made and they created beautiful love hearts from scratch. It's good timing for St. Valentine's Day! Niki also shared some of her amazing creations with the class including her spiky hat and models of viruses. The children really enjoyed the experience. Thanks Niki.

On the 1st of February the girls celebrated St. Brigid's Day and the start of Spring. Some classes made St. Brigid's crosses, others listened to the story of St. Brigid, while others did fun activities based on the feast day. Girls from Ms. Kenny's third class sang 'We Sing a Song to Brigid' over the intercom and the whole school sang along.

Ms. Barry's 6th class girls have been very busy learning all about China. As part of their study of the Chinese New Year the girls made Chinese dragons from clay.
