On Tues 22th May, Kate and Rachel travelled to the Helix, DCU for the Green Schools awards ceremony. Our school was awarded our 5th Green Flag for Biodiversity.
The meaning of ‘Biodiversity’ is easy to understand when we break the word down; “bio” refers to life and ‘living things’ and “Diversity” means just that; range or variety. The word refers to the huge variety and variation of life that surrounds us on planet earth. Maintaining a high level of diversity among plants, animals and all living things all around us is essential in keeping the environment healthy and fit for human life. This includes diversity within species, between species and diversity of ecosystems.
Over the past two years our school community has worked together on the theme of Biodiversity. We installed bird feeding stations, planted lots of trees and developed our school garden to include an insect hotel, planters with vegetables and herbs and planters made from recyclable materials. A fantastic effort from everyone!

End of Year Party for our Sports teams
An end of year party was organised to mark a great end of yet another successful season for all of our sports teams. The Senior GAA team made it to the Cumann na mBunscol semi final and won both finals in the St.Brigid's Blitz in Parnell's. The Junior GAA team played very well for their first time in the Fingal SChools League and made it to two finals, winning one, in the Go Games Tournament in Clontarf. The soccer girls made it to the Dublin finals of the FAI 5-a-side Tournament where they remained unbeaten and only went out on penalties to last year's Dublin and Leinster Champions. A massive thank you to all the players, mentors and parents for their dedication and support over the year. A special mention must go to Carol McGrath for attending every GAA match, supplying the girls with lovely treats and to our soccer managers Noel, Gary Deegan and Brian Payne.

First, Second and Third Class Tour to Newgrange Farm
On Tuesday morning six very excited classes set off on buses for their school tour to Newgrange Farm in Co. Meath. When they got to the farm the girls got to feed lambs and chickens and they also held the baby chickens and a puppy. They practised milking a cow. The girls rode on mini tractors, went on a trailer, explored a hay maze and had great fun playing with water, sand and large tubes. After all that fun the girls had a lovely picnic in the sunshine. They had a fantastic day.
