Intel Mini Scientist National Finals!

Three 6th class pupils, Lorena, Katie and Victoria represented the school at the recent Intel Mini Scientist National Finals in The Helix, DCU. The girls project was about the nasty effects of cigarettes. The girls had a great day at the finals and got to meet lots of other schools and see their entries. The girls also got interviewed by RTE News2day! (http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/news2day-30001385/10682782/)

Minister Richard Bruton was also in attendance and gave an inspiring speech to all.

Well done to the girls who did themselves and the school so proud!

St Brigid's Day!

The staff and pupils had a lovely day in the school today to celebrate St.Brigid's Day.

All of the classes sang Our Song to St.Brigid together while the music played over the intercom. Each class made their own St.Brigid's Cross from rushes that came all the way from the green fields in Co.Leitrim! The crosses were all sent to Mass at 10am with our 2nd & 6th classes. At the end of mass, the blessed crosses were given to the parishioners.

A visit from Sam Maguire !

Today, we were very fortunate to get a visit from Dublin player Davy Byrne and the Sam Maguire Cup! They visited all of the classrooms so that the children could see the cup and ask Davy questions. A very exciting day in the school!

Our Awesome Active Week with Hercules! (5th Class)

Ms.Farrell's 5th Class:

Over the past week our class had Hercules. Hercules is our Active School mascot. We use her to encourage everyone to stay active. Every class has a week with Hercules.

Last week we did these activities with Hercules. On Monday we went to May Park. On Tuesday we did gymnastics and Gaelic training. On Wednesday we did laps and our D.E.A.D song. On Thursday we did Athletics with Ms. Howard at lunch time. On Friday we gave her to Ms. O’Donovan’s 4th class.

During the week people brought Hercules home to do activities with them. Over the weekend Bree brought Hercules to the park with her mam. On Monday Sophie and Hercules did gymnastics in her garden. On Tuesday ClÍodhna brought Hercules junior team training and marked her in the match. On Wednesday Kayleigh played outside with her friend Allie and Hercules. On Thursday Abbie played on their swings and slide set with her little sister Hallie and Hercules.

We really enjoyed our week with Hercules and we can’t wait until her next visit.
