Senior GAA Semi final
Our Senior GAA team took on St.Pats, Skerries today in an exciting encounter! The score was very close in the end with the girls narrowly defeated by a few points. (final score 3-4 to 0-9). The girls were nine points behind at half time and that margin proved too much even with a heroic second half performance from our team, scoring five more points than our opponents. Well done girls for your commitment to training and playing games throughout the year. Fantastic achievement for both you and your mentors to reach the semi-finals. Thanks to parents who supported the girls at the games during the year.

Scoilnet Star Site Award for our school website!
Our school website has been awarded a STAR SITE AWARD BY Scoilnet (official education portal of the Department of Education and Science in Ireland). We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious award which recognises those schools around Ireland who embrace the web as a communication tool. The school would like to acknowledge the work of the teachers and pupils, the Student Council and the Parent's Association who have worked on developing our website.
"We would like to congratulate St Brigid’s Girls National School Killester on being awarded Scoilnet’s Star Site. This website is a great point of communication with parents and stakeholders. It also showcases the schools, its teachers and pupils’ achievements. The website also hosts supports for parents and students across all subjects.
There is a wealth of information available here on St Brigid’s Girls National School Killester’s website for parents and guardians from enrolment policy and forms to a calendar with closure dates, parent teacher meetings and sacrament dates. There is also a link to the parent’s association website and book lists. In the future an epayments facility will be available for parents. Another useful tool available her for parents and guardians are details of after-school activities.
Further supports for parents, guardians and pupils are links to useful website for different subject areas. Theses provide links for parents to educational websites that are safe for their children to visit and view. These can be used as part on recreational online use or to support the completion of homework.
This website also showcases the school, teacher’s and pupils’ achievements such as active week along with some fantastic images, the success of a quiz night fundraiser, the green flag, choir and GAA. We also liked the use of images from the school and classrooms rather than stock images across the site. Another nice feature is that the schools twitter feed is embedded on the site.
It is clear to see that alot of work and time has been spent on making this website a useful and enjoyable tool for parents, teachers and pupils. We commend St Brigid’s Girls National School Killester and its staff for embedding themselves in the local community and a fantastic website.
Active Week Activities!
Everyone is enjoying Active Week this week! The classes are participating in so many activities - Tag Rugby, tennis, Tae Kwando, badminton, basketball, GAA, dancing, skipping, yoga, cricket, pilates, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee among others! Parents and grandparents have also taken part in our Wake Up Shake Up dances on Monday & Friday as well as teaching the girls some playground games. On Wednesday, each class participated in an Active Picnic - (no food involved!) - instead of food there was a wide variety of activities in the yard including tug-o-war, an obstacle course, welly boot throwing, hoops and lots more!
Teachers, parents and pupils will all be very tired at the end of this week after being so active! Well done to everyone for getting involved!
