Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as an tseachtain seo! 

We had a great week of craic agus spraoi sa scoil as each of the classes made a huge effort for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Throughout the week the girls made an extra effort to speak as Gaeilge in their classes, in the corridors and in the school yard. 

There were lots of activities in the school to celebrate SnaG. A pupil from each class was chosen as a winner in our St.Patrick's Day Art competition. A 'Cainteoir na Seachtaine' was also selected from each of the classes and presented with a prize from Ms. Wickham. On Wednesday we had our 'Lá Glas' and 'Céilí Mor' sa halla.  All in all the children had a great week and learned lots of new phrases. 

'Míle Buíochas' to Ms.McDonald for coordinating the week and to all the teachers and pupils for making it an enjoyable week!

On Thursday the 3rd of March, the girls in St. Brigid's celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. There were some amazing costumes worn and many of the children even made their own costumes.  Some classes also brought in their favourite books to share with others. Other classes engaged in art activities and English lessons where they explored books further. It was a fun-filled day for all the classes.

Dublin City Council launched a fencing programme as part of the GAGA 'Get All Girls Active' initiative. 6th class girls got the opportunity to watch a fencing match and then participated in different fencing activities. The girls really enjoyed the workshop and are looking froward to taking part in a five week programme which will commence in Term 3.

The girls in Mrs. Delany’s Fifth Class have been engaging in the Junior Achievement Programme under the wonderful guidance of Ms. Megan Leonard from Expleo. Ltd.

Over the past five weeks they have engaged in various STEM activities and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Their favourite activity was to build a paper bridge that could hold a litre bottle of water and could fit an A4 book through it. Each group had a budget of €35,000 euro made up of 30 sheets of paper at €1,000 per sheet used and €5000 for each roll of sellotape used.

Many groups stayed well within budget, others overspent (using too much sellotape!) but most of the bridges passed the ultimate test. Well done, girls!
