All classes had great fun engaging in various activities,experiments and workshops for engineering week. Junior and Senior Infants engaged in an engineering workshop as part of their school tour in imaginosity. 1st class participated in an SEAI workshop and got to meet Guzzler. 2nd class did a workshop with Ms. O'Neill where they made structures using spaghetti and marshmallows. 3rd class used Wedo Lego kits to make robots and used the ipads to code them to move. 4th class participated in a SEAI workshop where they learned all about how energy can be changed from one form to another. They did some fun experiments to prove this. 5th class did a rocket workshop with Ms. O' Neill and 6th class created their own games. Some classes did extra engineering activities during the week.bThe girls learned lots and thoroughly enjoyed the week.

Girls from 4th and 6th Class went to Lansdowne Rugby Club to participate in a Tag Rugby Blitz.  They formed three teams and played seven mini games against  three other schools.  The girls played extremely well and showed a real talent for the game winning lots of their matches.

On Friday the 6th of March the girls in 1st class and 4th class got the opportunity to participate in a SEAI workshop where they explored the topic of energy and sustainability in a fun and engaging way. 1st class met GUZZLER the puppet who loves to waste energy. Through a series of games and activities the girls learned all about where our energy comes from. They also learned about the importance of saving energy and how we can make simple changes to help save our environment. 4th class learned all about energy too and the importance of conservation through carrying out a variety of experiments. The workshop focused primarily on: the principals of energy, the current global problems and what we can do to help and the science of energy and climate change. The girls really enjoyed the workshop and picked up a few practical tips that we can do in our school to save energy.

On Thursday the 5th of March, the girls in St. Brigid's celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as characters from their favourite books. There were some amazing costumes worn and many of the children even made their own costumes.  Some classes also brought in their favourite books to share with others. While some of the older classes joined the younger classes for some paired reading.  Other classes engaged in art activities and English lessons where they explored books further. It was a fun-filled day for all the classes.

The girls from 6th class have been learning about photography with Michelle La Grue. Michelle asked the girls to show off what they had learned and submit a photograph of their choice to a special photography competition. The photographs have been on display in the school hall this week and on Thursday our visiting judge John Ohle picked three winners! Congratulations to Ciara Picard, Jules Murphy O’Grady and Freya Kelly whose photographs were picked for prizes. Well done to all the 6th class girls for entering the competition and a big thank you to Michelle for running these brilliant workshops.

Ms. Concannon's 4th class and Ms. Shiels 1st class girls really enjoyed going to Westwood the past six weeks to do swimming lessons. The girls made great progress as well as learning all about the rules of the pool and the importance of staying safe when in water.
